Call for inputs for the opening statement on behalf of ONet and stakeholders present at IPBES-7 - Deadline 26 April

Dear IPBES Stakeholders,

it has been common practice that stakeholders will present a brief statement during the opening session of the IPBES plenary meeting. We would like to invite you to provide us with your inputs, ideas and proposals for the opening statement at IPBES-7.

Your inputs should feed into the discussion of the elements of the opening statement at the ONet Caucus Day on 27 April and the IPBES Stakeholder Day on 28 April. Please provide your ideas and inputs until 26 April!

The final drafting of the statement will take place at the IPBES Stakeholder Day and the statement will be delivered at the opening plenary session of IPBES-7 29 April 2019.

 

Guideline for inputs

The final statement cannot be longer than 3-5 minutes / approximately 15 paragraphs.

Please provide your input in form of short paragraphs (max. 80 words) under one of the survey headlines. You can find previous statements as inspiration below the survey.

Your input should be relevant to the audience of the opening plenary session and related to the inter-sessional process or the agenda items of IPBES-7.

Add your name and associated organisation and provide a brief rationale for your input  in brackets (Proposed issue, text or paragraph, Name/Organisation + brief rational if possible).

If you support a paragraph that was proposed by somebody else, please write a comment. If you support a proposed issue, but not the proposed paragraph, add your own proposal below.

Please do not delete or modify paragraphs proposed by somebody else!

Please be aware that the final content of the opening statement will be developed during the IPBES Stakeholder Day and that your proposal might be modified or not be selected, if none of stakeholders present promotes it or if no consensus to include it can be reached. However, you proposal can still inform other stakeholders and support them in the drafting of their interventions.
