Biodiversity Monitoring Systems to Support the Kunming-Montreal Framework | webinar

Organised by the National Monitoring Support Initiative at UNEP-WCMC
3 July 2025, 13:00 CEST | webinar
Join us for a dynamic discussion on how countries are working to align their biodiversity monitoring systems with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).
As countries move forward with implementing the KMGBF, national strategies and monitoring approaches will differ based on each country’s systems and priorities. Still, there are shared challenges—and opportunities for collaboration. This webinar will highlight the importance of learning from each other’s experiences and will offer a space for knowledge exchange.
What to Expect:
Participants will gain an overview of the KMGBF monitoring framework and insights from decisions made at COP 15 and COP 16. The session will also explore how different countries are strengthening their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and aligning their national systems with KMGBF indicators. With examples from Colombia, Indonesia, and South Africa projects on capacity building and national implementation, the conversation will focus on practical tools, approaches, and lessons learned from across regions.
Speakers:
- Pratik Tandon, Communications Officer, UNEP-WCMC
- Kieran Noonan-Mooney, Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity
- Ayesha Wijesekera, Programme Officer, UNEP-WCMC
- Gabriela Franco, Project Manager, UNEP-WCMC
