International Environmental Agreements: How can Science-Policy-Practice Interfaces help with National Implementation?

10 December 2025, 09:00 - 13:00 GMT | online

Join us in the last course of the year under the CABES Online Trainers Programme. Led by Mr. Oumarou Yacoudima from the Executive Secretariat of the National Environment Council for Sustainable Development, Niger, this interactive half-day course will explore how Science-Policy-Practice Interfaces (SPPIs) can strengthen the national implementation of the three Rio Conventions — UNFCCC, CBD, and UNCCD — across Africa.

Relating on insights from the IPBES Global Assessment, the session will emphasize how evidence-based knowledge and strong science-policy connections can help countries bridge commitments under international environmental agreements with local implementation and transformative action.

By the end of this course, participants will:
- Understand the main goals of the three Rio Conventions.
- Learn how international environmental agreements are implemented at the national level.
- Recognize the vital role of SPPIs in translating science into policy and practice.
