IPBES8

The ONet Caucus Day and IPBES Stakeholder Days are now over. Together we made great progress on preparing an opening statement. Thank you so much to everyone who sent feedback following our initial email request, attended the Caucus day, any of the regional sessions or closing plenary of the Stakeholder Days.

What now?

The eighth session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (#IPBES8), will take place online from 14 to 24 June 2021. Further information here.

There will be a half hour during the afternoon on most of these days for stakeholders to meet and discuss informally during a scheduled break in the Plenary meeting.

When? 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 21st, 22nd, and 24th June from 2:45 to 3:15 pm CEST

How? This is an informal virtual meeting via zoom. There is no need to register. Please just use this link to join as and when you can.

Meeting ID: 978 3953 8237, Passcode: 307597

Why? The purpose of these daily informal meetings is to offer a daily space for discussion among ONet members and all stakeholders who are accredited observers to the Plenary.

More specifically, this means:

  • Informal discussion among stakeholders (mainly IPBES accredited observers) about IPBES 8th Plenary meetings.
  • Coordination, if required, of ONet members’ comments on and inputs into IPBES 8th Plenary process; coordination with IIFBES’ contributions.
  • Preparation of the ONet’s closing statement on 24th June.
  • Preparation of ONet’s activities for the intersessional period (between #IPBES8 and #IPBES9)

Who? All ONet members are warmly invited to join, as are any IPBES stakeholders who are observers at the plenary.

If possible, attending on the 22nd June would be very helpful to provide your input on the ONet closing statement.
